Once a pipe has cracked, shifted or been penetrated by roots, cleaning alone no longer helps. The traditional answer was to dig it up, replace the pipe and fill the trench back in. For a drain running under the garden or under the floor slab, that is a considerable intervention.
No-dig relining takes a different route. The damaged pipe stays where it is and is given a new, watertight wall from the inside. The work is carried out through existing manholes and openings. Whatever is on the surface above stays put.
Two methods, two situations
Full-length liner for the whole section
A resin-soaked liner is drawn into the pipe, pressed against the pipe wall and cured in place. What is left inside the old pipe is a new one, without joints.
- For pipes that are damaged along their whole length
- No joints, so no points where roots can find their way back in
- The cross-section becomes slightly smaller, which the smooth surface usually offsets
Patch liner for a single damaged spot
If the damage sits in one place only, a short piece of liner is set precisely there. The rest of the pipe is left untouched.
- For individual cracks, broken sections or a leaking junction
- Considerably less work than relining a whole section
- Requires the pipe to be sound otherwise
How relining works
Inspect and measure
The camera survey comes first: exactly where the damage sits, what kind it is, how long the section is. Without that picture you can neither choose the method nor state the effort involved.
Clean
The pipe wall has to be clean or the liner will not bond. Jetting is done at high pressure, with roots and hard deposits removed mechanically beforehand.
Install and cure
The liner is drawn in, pressed against the wall and cured. The pipe cannot be used while it cures. How long that takes depends on the material.
Sign off
Finally the camera again: does the liner sit tight everywhere, are the junctions open again, is the pipe watertight. The recording stays with you as proof.

Not every pipe can be relined
If a pipe has collapsed, shifted badly or is deformed over a longer stretch, a liner will not hold. In that case there is no way around open excavation.
What applies in your case is decided by the camera survey, not by a remote diagnosis over the phone. Anyone who commits to a method without a picture is guessing.
The survey always comes first
There is no such thing as relining without a prior camera survey. It establishes the position, type and extent of the damage and is the basis for any quotation.

A word about cost
What relining costs depends on length, diameter, condition and access. A figure on this page would be guesswork and would be of no use to you.
It only becomes reliable once the pipe has been measured up. Until then we name no amounts.
Why we do not offer it yet
Liner technology is not something you take on as a sideline. Material, equipment and experience have to match, otherwise the damage afterwards is worse than before.

Frequently asked questions
Does the garden have to be dug up?
With no-dig relining, as a rule no. The work is done through existing manholes, inspection openings or a single access point. Whether that is enough in your case is shown by the camera survey.
How long does relining last?
For properly installed liners, manufacturers state service lives in the range of several decades. What matters is a clean substrate, correct curing and a pipe that is otherwise still sound.
Can I use the bathroom while the work is going on?
Not while the liner is being installed and cured. How long that takes depends on the method and the length. It is discussed beforehand so that you can plan around it.
What about the junctions that feed into the pipe?
The liner closes them off at first and they are reopened afterwards. That they are clear at the end is checked by the camera at sign-off.
